Consumers' preferences for processed meat: a best–worst scaling approach in three European countries

Abstract Processed meat products are a staple part of the typical European diet. Product packaging can include considerable amount information and, with other intrinsic and extrinsic attributes, substantially influence consumers' preferences purchasing decisions. This study investigates 14 product attributes processed using cross-country analysis. Based on an online survey conducted in Hungary ( n = 410), Italy 268), Serbia 402), object-case best–worst scaling approach was applied. Results reveal both international country-specific characteristics preferences. Best-Worst scores that taste best-before date among most significant considerations all three countries, while brand is considered least important. Comparisons indicate differences according to country socioeconomic characteristics. The provides managerial implications.
